Description: Selling my 1982 vw rabbit pickup. I bought this from a guy who bought it from the guy that built it. It came to minnesota all the way from colorado where it placed first in its class in the 2005 dubs over the rockies show. It was built up with a fine-toothed comb. It’s seen a significant amount of use since then, as the previous owner used it as a work truck. While there are paint chips and some rust, it still looks good and catches a lot of attention on the road. I’ve done my best to maintain it, but don’t have the time to restore it to its full former glory. Don’t get me wrong, it still runs and drives great, getting it started can be annoying and a little slow sometimes, but it’s never once left me stranded, the new battery this season helped a lot, along with a fully rebuilt and recoated fuel tank in october of 2013 ( I have all of the receipts for this). I imagine it would, however, benefit from a thorough tune-up/cleaning when it comes to the powerplant, that might get rid of the hard starts. I also put new tires on it in july of 2014 and have probably only driven it a few hundred miles since.
There are plenty of little things that could use some attention (rear lighting switch, door speaker replacement, sagging headliner, etc.) but overall it’s an awesome little truck. You’d be amazed what you can do/carry with this thing. It’s awesome and I ‘ll be sad to see it go. Here are some of the build specs from the original owner:
1983 gti engine – shaved head, euro cam, audi turbo throttle body, 5-speed short-box transmission. The body of the truck has 155k miles, but the motor was swapped with significantly less when it was built. I could try to remember the number, but it would be so vague you probably wouldn’t believe it. All I can tell you is that the motor itself has less than 100k on it. The transmission even less.
Kyb struts and shocks. Nuespeed upper and lower stress bars. Gti front sway bar
All 4 wheels have been upgraded from drums to discs. With ate front rotors and rear calipers
6 speaker stereo. For a while the two door speakers and the two 10″ punch p1 subs (1 behind each seat) were where the majority of the sound came from, but the driver speaker seems to be working intermittently lately.
Custom front and rear bumpers with lights (the rear lights used to work and just need a new switch for the cab) I never got the front lights to work, but I always imagined someone would just throw some awesome light bars on there and call it good. Wheels are from an old audi 4000. Tires are a few seasons old but light on miles. Windows tinted all around, single pane rear window conversion got rid of the slider. Gti wheel flares. Gti dash and gauge package. (speedo works, but tachometer only works intermittently. I think it’s just a cable connector behind the dash, but that’s total speculation) the truck also has jdm racing bucket seats that are surprisingly comfortable. Gti steering wheel, horn doesn’t work. Paint by richabaugh restorations. Under body is coated and in great shape.
I have the title in hand. I bought it with a loan from affinity and have since paid it off. I have all of the lein release paperwork from the appropriate signatories, so I ‘m all ready to sign it over to you. Hit that reply button at the top and let me know if you’re interested.
